Hi everyone. Long hot summer is coming to an end! I'll try to bring you up to date on Park Association happenings.

Hope everyone had a great time at the last picnic on August 6th at Minard Mills. The members always bring the best food and deserts.

Membership cards are printed and ready to be mailed. They will be good until May 2018. A cover letter from President Nancy Seydell will be included.

Hope you all saw the newspaper article about the changes to the Cascades Falls next year. Splash pads are already a very poplar item.

Discussion was had by the board to combine picnics and work bees. It was decided to suspend work bees for all summer months. Work bees will be in the spring and fall months when temps are cooler. Anyone with ideas for a fall work bee contact me and we will see if we can get it organized.

The new Parks Director, Jeff Hovarter is off to a fast start. He has many changes to the Parks department in mind, with the
support of the employees. He has hired his future replacement as director, Kyle Lewis. He also hired Mark Vysoky, who we understand is great on writing grants. Something new the Parks can use. In the future the Park Association will possibly help with match grant dollars.

As many of you have heard,Camp Teetonka will no longer be run by the Boy Scouts. Jeff Hovarter made an outstanding presentation for Jackson County Parks to aquire Camp Teetonka. The committee has until the end of the year to make their decision.

At the last board meeting it was agreed to host a bon fire, and have the annual Holiday party. Dates will be worked out the last week of October. What do you think about combining them to the same day in December? It's worth talking about.

Anyone has any info for this newsletter, pass it along.
